The 9th International Conference on Flexible and Printed Electronics was successfully held in Changzhou High-tech Zone from September 25th to 28th, 2018.
The International Conference on Flexible and Printed Electronics (ICFPE) is one of the three major international conferences on next-generation electronics. It aims to bring together the best minds in academia and industry to discuss challenges and exchange ideas. ICFPE was launched in Asia in 2009 and has been held in rotation in South Korea, Japan, Taiwan, and mainland China. China hosted the 5th ICFPE in Beijing in 2014. This year, ICFPE returned to China again, jointly organized by Changzhou Institute of Printed Electronics, Jiangsu Enfu Sai Flexible Electronics Co., Ltd., and Shanghai Bijun Enterprise Management Consulting Co., Ltd. It was also jointly held with the 8th National Symposium on Flexible and Printed Electronics, the 2018 Flexible Electronics Summit, and the 2018 China Flexible Electronics Technology Forum, achieving unprecedented success.
The conference was chaired by Dr. Zhang Xiacang, director of Changzhou Institute of Printed Electronics. The conference also invited 10 domestic and foreign academicians and experts to give keynote reports, including Professor Liu Yunqi, academician of the Chinese Academy of Sciences; Dr. Jeremy Burroughes, academician of the British Academy of Sciences and Chief Technology Officer of Cambridge University; Professor Cheng Yibing, academician of the Australian Academy of Engineering; Cui Zheng, director of the Printed Electronics Technology Research Center of Suzhou Institute of Nano-tech & Nano-bionics, CAS, and Fellow of the Institution of Engineering and Technology; and Dr. Myung won Lee, chief researcher of LG Group, South Korea. More than 150 high-level reports and presentations from over 20 countries including China, South Korea, Japan, Taiwan, Germany, the United States, Canada, the United Kingdom, Australia, and Finland were arranged, along with an exhibition of new technologies and products from nearly 50 companies. A total of more than 600 experts and leaders from academia and related industries participated in the conference. Among them, the participation rate from the industry reached as high as 65%. More noteworthy is that the number of top experts, sponsors, exhibitors, and industry participants reached an unprecedented level. Experts from industry, academia, and research circles gave high praise to the development and industrialization investment of printed and flexible electronics technology in China.
Meanwhile, under the guidance of the Information Center of the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT), the 2018 "Create China" Flexible Manufacturing International Special Final was held on the afternoon of the 25th. It is understood that this event is a national-level competition guided by the MIIT, jointly organized by the MIIT Information Center, the Changzhou High-tech Zone government, and the Changzhou Institute of Printed Electronics, and undertaken by Shanghai Bijun Enterprise Management Consulting Co., Ltd. It focuses on discovering technological breakthroughs and product demonstrations in new material research, production processes, wearable smart fabrics, flexible displays and lighting, biomedical applications, automobiles, structural electronics energy harvesting and storage, the Internet of Things, sensors, intelligent packaging and logistics, etc. Ultimately, the project "Research and Application of Large-Area Flexible Transparent Conductive Film" from Xiamen Pine Jack Technology Co., Ltd. won the first prize in the domestic group, and the project "Flexible Organic Light-Emitting Backplane" from LunaLEC in Sweden won the first prize in the international group.
At the conference, two industrialization projects were signed: Jiangsu Enfu Sai Flexible Electronics Co., Ltd. and Wen Tai Technology (Shanghai) Co., Ltd. signed the "Iontophoresis Eye Mask Project"; and Jiangsu Enfu Sai Flexible Electronics Co., Ltd., SF Express Cold Chain Business Department, and Shenzhen Wanle Pharmaceutical jointly signed the "Traceable Intelligent Temperature Monitoring Medicine Box Project".
Thus, the 9th International Conference on Flexible and Printed Electronics (ICFPE 2018) came to a successful conclusion. This conference not only showcased the latest achievements of the global printed electronics industry, but also demonstrated to the world the development and achievements of China's printed electronics industry, receiving high recognition and praise from high-level guests at home and abroad, and earning a good reputation for the domestic printed electronics industry. The successful holding of this conference has sounded the clarion call for the rise of China's flexible and printed electronics industry, and has milestone significance for the development of China's electronic information technology.
